Lighter bands as shown are just areas where the veneer knife was dull not severing the wood fibers as cleanly as the rest of the sheet. Normal sanding will even out the sheen. The reverse side doesn't show any of that.
Good wood for the first time veneer user. Cuts easily, works similar to Mahogany.
